I am a design researcher working in both the academic and commercial worlds.

In my academic life, I am Senior Lecturer in Visual Communications at University for the Creative Arts and Associate Lecturer in Product + Industrial Design at Central St. Martins, University of the Arts London.

My research is focused on making objects speak in different voices through different disciplinary practices across visual and material culture. My specialism is the history and theory of technology and media.

Coming to design from philosophy, critical theory and cultural studies, my current long-term research interest is slime, its cultural meanings, its design histories, and its critical materiality.

In my commercial life, I am Research Director at AFB Research, bringing my specialisms in cultural semiotics, qualitative research, trends, and forecasting to work for a variety of clients across the technology, healthcare, place and charitable sectors.
